| A taste of things to come.... |
[22 Jul 2004|10:59am] |
I've decided to design and make my own 10-pc bodykit. This way I don't have to suffer the agony of waiting for shipping time, customs for a kit from some country far away that may or MAY NOT fit my car properly. And the cost for buying a JDM kit and making my own kit is not too different and I get to QC my own kit!
The fiberglass is imported from Japan, the bodykit is designed using CAD and the shop that is making it has won so many awards at auto shows, it's becoming ridiculous. These guys totally dominate the car scene.
Anyway, here are some pics. My car should be done in a month or so. By the way, the black Aristo next to me has a full widebody IMC kit with 19x10 and 19x12 Estatus D2 wheels!! Nuts!!!!!!!!

The mould is made using clay which is a lot more malleable than the industry-standard foam. Of course, with clay, you need years of moulding skill in order to make a perfect, wave-free mould. But, folks here in Indonesia, are famous for their handicraft skills and I am fully confident that the mould produced will be next to perfect.

Ok now that I've gotten the aristo back for about a week, I am really itching to do some more things to it. But I don't know what...
A Fabulous bodykit? Redo the interior? Some extra suspension braces? New wheels? Screw it, move on to a new project???
Grrrrrrr.............

Well, after 3 loooooooooooong weeks, I finally got my car back today. I installed SO MUCH stuff on the car that I did not exactly know what did what, but I can personally say that my car as it sits right now HAULS some serious A$$. I am going to dyno it this weekend or the next, I will be meeting up with the owner of the fastest Impreza in Jakarta, a Euro M3 and a brand new (should be my first roadkill) STi. I am excited. We are gonna do some hush-hush freeway runs!!!!
Not gonna post pics of the engine bay, coz it's already posted, but here's a couple from tonight:
SLeeper, yes?

It was raining and I was a making a right turn to overtake a stationary bus. A screech was heard and a man with his wife on his motorbike braked and swerved hard to avoid me. I couldn't see him in the dark rain and the misty sideview mirror was no good. The guy managed to stop before making a huge damaged on my right side of the car but not before his bike connected with my brand new front wheel. Now I got a 4mm deep and 5cm long gash on my 1 week old front wheel. I am so pissed, my supplier told me it will be about USD900 to replace one wheel. Why so expensive? Well, it costs more to make just 1 and to ship just 1. Darn it! Darn it all!!!!

I just drove around today fiddling with the AVC-R and realized that the previous owner totally fucked up its setting. I mean he followed all the numbers in the instruction manual to its exact number. HELLLOOOO, that number is for guidance, not the number you put in your freakin' car. No wonder I've been having boost spikes ever since I bought this car. For example, on 1st gear my boost would shoot up to 1.2 bar, but on 4th gear it would never steer higher than 0.8 bar! That's almost 1/2 a bar difference! Which could mean blowing it up or ....well blowing it up!!!!
Damn Indonesian tuners. I hope they didn't fuck up the install either. Man, this is pissing me off!

| What luck.... |
[01 Feb 2004|01:16pm] |
Well, I managed to completely destroy my front right wheel over a pothole last night. I was driving home from a dinner party at a pretty high speed and completely missed that manhole/pothole/dip/whatever. All I heard was a loud THUNK and suddenly the right wheel just went completely out of air.
Luckily my 2 friends weren't far behind me and they helped me out. We tried to replace the wheel with the spare that I had, but because of my humongous front brake, it won't even clear! We then tried to move the back wheel to the front....No Luck!
So I did the unimaginable. I drove with completely flat tire about 400 metres to this hotel where I usually work out.
Anyway, today we got the wheel ghetto-fixed. I don't really care. I just want to be able to drive the car away. I bought new rims from Japan anyway and it's already on the way here.

| DSR Monoblock big brake kit |
[25 Jan 2004|04:15pm] |
Ahhh, they have finally arrived. All aluminium front big brake kit for my car. I will match it with Supra-sized slotted rotors, some stainless steel brake lines and the TRD brakepads. I may opt to use another kind of brakepad since the TRD ones are notorious for noise and brake dust. We'll see...

These custom brackets are made with the same material used in F1 racing so we know this is some seriously good stuff. I wouldn't put any less on my car!

Beauty! In true JDM gold finish!
